COVID Unpacked for Parents with Children 5 and Under

March 30, 2022

YOU AND YOUR CHILDRENS’ HEALTH IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.

Staying Healthy

The COVID pandemic has been a trying time for our Luminous early childhood daycare staff and parents who entrust us with their little ones in the Bronx every day. We are all hoping that the end is in sight! We continue to follow the current Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to provide the best protection possible for you and your children.

As you know, when someone gets sick from COVID, they can spread the virus to others without necessarily showing any symptoms. Anyone can acquire COVID from home, school, or community settings and transmit it to other students, teachers, household members and any persons with whom they have contact.

Protect Your Child By Getting Vaccinated

Vaccines are now available for children six-months to four years as well as  for you and your older children. The best way to reduce your family and your child’s risk of either acquiring or passing on the virus is to ensure that all family members who are eligible for the vaccine have received all recommended shots. Rest assured, all our staff are vaccinated.

Here are the latest recommendations on vaccines from nyc.gov for your six-months to four year-olds.

Please Wear Your Masks

We require that all people ages 2 and older (including parents, siblings, teachers, and staff) wear masks in Richman Plaza and Morris Heights school buildings and play areas, regardless of vaccination status.

Child Covid-19 symptoms in daycare

IF MY CHILD SHOWS COVID SYMPTOMS WHILE IN CHILDCARE,
WHAT HAPPENS?

One of our staff will call you to gather your child and wait with them in a room away from the other children to prevent potential spreading of the virus. Here are the CDC guidelines for what Luminous Centers will do next.

IF MY CHILD HAS CLOSE CONTACT WITH A PERSON WITH COVID,
WHAT SHOULD I DO?

  1. Get your child tested as soon as possible. If your child tests positive for COVID, please immediately call and notify your Luminous Early Childhood Learning Center Childcare Morris Center (718-682-3650) or Richman Plaza (347-963-4160). You will be asked about others who have had close contact with your child so they can be notified of possible exposure and alert health officials. Your child should especially stay away from people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.
  2. If your child tests negative, he or she can return to school. Please provide your teacher with your child’s negative test results.
