Spooky Halloween Treats

Hi, parents! Last week, we tried some super simple Halloween treats. This week, I have some spooky treat suggestions that are a tiny bit more complicated but still simple enough to do quickly. Try these Halloween treats with your kiddos. Let’s get into it!

Jack-O-Lantern

We’ll start off with a pretty simple idea (just not as simple as a pretzel stick inside a clementine). This first suggestion is something you’ve probably made for your kiddo a bunch of times: a quesadilla. But this time, it’s a Jack-O-Lantern quesadilla!

It’s just as simple as a regular quesadilla. All you need to do differently is cut out two small triangles for the eyes and a jack-o'-lantern mouth into the soft tortilla before you heat it up in a skillet.

Easy peasy!

Cookie-Cutter Snacks

This next one does require Halloween-themed cookie cutters. Those funky, fun cookie cutters can really upgrade a boring snack to a spooky snack with ease. So it is worth it to keep them hanging around.

Use the cookie cutter for sandwiches, whether it’s a grilled cheese or a turkey sandwich.

A fun cookie cutter can turn a mundane, run-of-the-mill lunch into something your little one gets excited about!

Fruity Candy Corn

This next one is so cute! Use fresh or canned pineapple, cantaloupe and some skewers to create the healthiest candy corn that’s ever existed.

Use a larger piece of pineapple for the bottom section of the candy corn. You will then take a piece of cantaloupe for the next section. Then, another slice of pineapple.

Instead of trying to get perfectly sized pieces to create a triangle, you can just add the pieces onto the skewer and use a knife to cut the sides down. That way, you can guarantee that you will get the right candy corn shape you are looking for.

Ghostly Pudding Cups

This last suggestion, in my opinion, is the cutest. We are talking pudding with a whipped cream ghost!

If you are feeling ambitious, feel free to make your own homemade chocolate pudding and whipped cream. If you are on a time crunch or just want to make things a bit easier, then go ahead and purchase those items.

This is pretty simple: Spoon pudding on the bottom in a shallow cup. From there, you’ll want to add the whipped cream on top in a ghost-like shape (skinnier on top). Cool Whip might be a good option because it holds its shape well. Then use some mini chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth. And there you have it!

I hope these are simple enough to incorporate with your kiddos. I know we parents don’t have too much extra time. But when we are able to liven up a regular meal or snack, the kiddos' reactions are totally worth it.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
