LOCATIONS and HOURS
How many locations does your daycare have?
Luminous Early Childhood Learning Center currently has 7 locations in Bronx and 1 location in Brooklyn. See the full list of our New York daycare locations here.
What are your regular hours of operations?
Our daycare locations are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm.
What age range does your daycare accommodate?
Our daycare centers accommodates children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
What are the qualifications of your caregivers?
All of our caregivers are certified in infant and child CPR and first aid, and have completed the required training and background checks.
What is the ratio of infants and toddlers to caregivers?
We maintain a ratio of four infants to one caregiver and five to one for toddler groups.
What types of activities do you offer for infants?
We provide a variety of sensory activities, music and other learning activities in nurturing, safe, and family-friendly environment.
What daycare locations in Bronx and Brooklyn have Head Start (3K & 4K) Programs?
At this time Head Start (3K & 4K) Program is offered at our Richman Plaza daycare location in Bronx, NY.
What are the hours of operation for the 3K and Pre-K program?
Our DOE hours are Mon- Fri 8:15 am – 2:50 pm
What’s the earliest I can drop my child off?
You can drop your child off as early as 7:30 am (with an additional fee).
Do you have extended hours past 3:00 pm?
Yes, we go up to 6:00 pm with an additional fee (See the tuition tab on our website.).
CHILD HEALTH AND CARE
What is needed on the first day?
After your registration, you will receive an enrollment packet with all the necessary information, including a supply list.
Does my child need to get the flu shot before entering your program?
All children need to be fully immunized including the flu shot before entering the program.
Are your staff CPR-certified and trained?
Yes, our staff is certified and receives ongoing training yearly, including CPR.
My 2.5 years old is not potty trained. Can I still register my child?
Yes, we do potty training but please keep in mind that we work with you and not for you.
What if I notice, after arriving home, that my child’s diaper is soiled/soaked?
Our staff makes every effort for the children to go home with clean diapers/pull-ups. Before you leave our center, please check your child’s diaper/pull-up. If soiled, please notify the staff immediately. However, once you reach home, it’s your responsibility.
FEES
How much does infant care cost?
The cost of infant care at our daycare depends on the number of hours and days per week. Our rates are competitive and we offer discounts for siblings. We offer financial assistance through ASC, HRA, and DOE for families that qualify.
What childcare centers accept HRA / ACS Child Care Vouchers?
A9. Luminous accepts HRA Vouchers (paid through ACS), especially with our infants/toddlers at all childcare locations in Bronx and Brooklyn.
Do you offer free daycare for infants?
We help reduce infant daycare cost to $1 to $50 dollars per week per child depending on eligibility.
Do your offer free daycare for toddlers?
Our Brooklyn and Bronx daycare centers offer free or reduced cost daycare for toddlers through Head Start and UPK programs.
I have an HRA Voucher. Can I transfer it?
Yes, you can transfer your voucher to our Center.
How can I qualify for an ACS/HRA Voucher?
You may qualify if you are on public assistance. Please speak with your Family Service Worker.
What if I’m a working parent without enough income?
You can call 311 for subsidized daycare centers that are operated through NYC.
If my child is absent, do I still have to pay?
Yes, payment is based upon enrollment and not on attendance.
Should I buy school supplies?
No, school supplies are included in the tuition fee.
FOOD
Do you provide food for children at the daycare centers?
Yes, your child will receive healthy breakfast, lunch, and a snack every day.
Do you offer food for children with special dietary needs?
Yes, our food preparers make sure that your child receives foods that are safe (non-dairy, gluten free, etc.).
What childcare locations in Bronx and Brooklyn offer halal food options fro children?
Luminous has partnered with Regina Caterers at several of our locations. Regina Caterers buys fresh Zabihah HALAL meat and poultry products from AL-AQSA HALAL that is USDA halal certified. Find more information about Halal food at our childcare locations here.
